Eliminate Limits Camp that is supported by BİRLİKTE, Local CSOs Institutional Support Program funded by the European Union, was held on 2-5 July in Kırklareli İğneada Longoz Forests.
In the camping area which hosted 27 people, including 10 non-sighted, 10 sighted participants, trainers and organisation team, nature activities were designed accessible to all.
This helped the participants to gain experince on accessible nature activities.
We believe our experience from this very first camp will be a great guide for our future events and activities.
One day before the event date we set up the tents which are provided by the Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks in Kırklareli for the participants. On the meeting day of the camp we gathered to have our lunch. We were uneasy but everything went so smooth.
Since this was a camp where all the participants shared the work; food preparation, dish washing and other duties were carried out together.
On the first day, after the breakfast and get-to-know-you games, we practiced the earth element walk combined with hiking that streghtens our ties with the nature. Then, Oğuzhan of EGED (Association of the Visually Impaired in Education), shared his experiences of working with the visually impaired. In the evening, our participants shared their talents by the campfire.
On the second day of the camp, which was completely based on nature’s perception of time, an earthenware sculpture, improvised dance and movement workshops were held.
Before the sunset, a canoe activity was held in Mert Lake.
Again by the camp fire, our folk songs mixed with the songs of nature and cheered the camping ground.
On last day of the camp, early in the morning we had the chance to learn how to define bird species in the nature by their sounds and calls. This was a great workshop led by Mr. Ergün Bacak.
We would like to thank to Kırklareli Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks for their support for equipments, to EGED (The Association for the Visually Impaired in Education) for their cooperation, to Pan İğneada for their support of using their facilities, to local guide Halil İbrahim Aydın for his support in canoeing activity, to our instructors, our support team and our voluunteers for their great effort for being a part of this efficent event.
We would like to support other organizations as much as we can in such events. Please do not hesitate to contact us.
